Below are details of a few links and issues, as well as some news items, that Branch members may be interested in.  As always, if you have any questins or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Branch Secretary, Greg Harrison, via the link on the left.

  • Tonight, the 13th of May, a planning meeting is being held by the Cardiff Communities Against Racism coalition in response to the planned EDL / WDL march in Cardiff on June the 5th.  All are welcome to the meeting (which is formally supported by Cardiff Rail Branch of the RMT) which starts at 19.00 tonight in the Sandringham Hotel, St. Mary Street, Cardiff.  Let's show the fascist BNP / EDL / WDL that they are not welcome in our progressive, multicultural and cosmopolitan city!!  Facebook users can find more details by clicking here.
  • Branch delegates to the Cardiff County Trades Union Council are advised that their monthly meeting takes place next Tuesday, the 18th of May, at the CWU offices on Cowbridge Road in Canton, starting at 18.00.
  • The Welsh TUC takes place next Wednesday and Thursday the 19th and 20th of May, in Llandudno.  As Trades Unionists our fightback against the inevitable cuts which will happen as part of the Tory / Lib Dem pact will start immediately, and ht eWelsh TUC conference next week is sure to be a hotbed of planning activity.  Detailed reports will follow after the Conference has finished.
  • Details of the courses available to members at the RMT National Education Centre in Doncaster have now been finalised to the end of the year.  Any Stage 1 or Stage 2 reps who wish to attend a General reps course and have not yet done so are asked to contact the Branch Secretary via the link on the left ASAP.  The dates on which General reps courses are being run can be viewed by clicking here.
  • A new histiry of our Union, "Pulling Together" has been published by the RMT.  Colourful and engaging, it gives a concise timeline of our proud history from our inception as the ASRS (Associated Society of Railway Servants) through our many years as the NUR to our current embodiment as the RMT.  Any Branch member who would like a free copy of the book should please email or phone the Branch Secretary Greg Harrison with their name and address (and membership number if known) and he will arrange for them to be sent their free copy.
